CHOOSING COLLEGES, GETTING RECOMMENDATIONS, AND WRITING STATEMENTS FROM DR. WEED
Note: If links on this page are broken, please let me know via my contact page. I’ll check them and make sure they are removed or changed if needed. Sometimes a different browser or machine (phone vs. computer, for example) will lead to different results. If links really don’t work, try searching for articles you want to read using the reference info here. Links often change but titles and publishers shouldn’t.
This page is a collection of my writings, most of which are about either questions you should ask yourself as you select the colleges you want to apply to or, in the case of my “Congratulations!” blog, the things you can do to give yourself the best chance of succeeding in those essential early months on campus. I also have some blogs on how to get good recommendations and on writing a strong personal statement.
My blog that covers things anyone thinking about medical school in particular should know well before deciding to apply may be particularly helpful if you’re thinking about getting a doctoral-level medical degree. Even though it doesn’t specifically touch on these things, if you’re thinking about a dental degree, it may also be helpful as many of the things expected of medical students are also important in the dental application process. I am open to other topics if you have one you think would be of interest to a wide variety of people. Contact me with your suggestions if so.
